Silanguin Cove - The Hidden Myth

Behind the Mountains, across the sea you could find an enchanted place called "Silanguin Cove". It lies at the edge of Subic,Zambales in the foot of Mount Cinco Picos facing the South China Sea. A remote area in the western Luzon in the province of Zambales under the Municipality of San Antonio. You can get there only by motorized banca's from Subic or Pundaquit, or you may try to trek the mountains like the mountaineers.
What is the uniqueness of the Silanguin Cove? What can we explore inside of it?




Silanguin cove is one of the hidden treasure of Zambales province, a perfect place for relaxation and re-invigorating one's self. The calmness of the sea and soft breeze of the wind let you unwind and take a moment with nature. Its peaceful ambiance and the aesthetic of nature will surely astonish everyone that will explore it. Dwell to its vast forest, trek through its crystal clear water, hike to its range of grassland, and refresh to its blue sea waters. Silanguin Cove has many stories that have never been told like every other wonderful areas around the world, but Silanguin Cove before is just a military training area, a testing ground for fire powers of different weapons used in military and an ordinary place. The government has put to used the natural found there in previously log over for wood production, used for grazing cows, extract mineral resources, reforestation projects and now sustainable used of its natural resources and rehabilitation of the environment.
The main livelihood in the area was fishing, but way back before when the area is used to be a military training site and large ships take cover against the storm in the area, barter is common from the locals, they trade in animals, can goods, food supplies, to fish and eventually sell the fish in the market. Some go for charcoal making and before in 1970's some work in the mining area. And others in times of testing of the different armaments of the military the locals would collect the gun powder of those explosives that have not ignited, its a dangerous and crazy thing to do “catching bombs”.
Silanguin has been a hiding place from storm by cruisers neither small or large boats, fisherman or explorers. Its a perfect place to take shelter from heavy storms, the tall mountains block the strong winds and the land masses protects the inner portion from harsh waves.


There are lot of things to explore in Silanguin the Lion figure formed on the rocks upon entering in the inner of Silanguin, the Silanguin Island isolated from the inner land, the mountain that has five peaks, the mysterious large river. You can explore the relic of the mined site in the area ans see the rock wall that has formed a small water fall. There was also a large ship that have sank into the inner of silanguin, dive and see for your self. A small water fall is also present in the inner part of the forest. Hunt for wild animals in the area wild boar, ducks, chicken, “bayawak”, crabs, and even cows. See trees that still stand after decades and listen to the locals stories in times when they used to “catch bombs in the military training site”.
There are many ways to enjoy and experience Silanguin cove to its fullest, one of which of course is swimming whether night or day, enjoy the fresh waters of the sea and the rivers. You can go fishing , the fresh fish can be grilled and cook it into your favorite dish or if you can't catch the fish you can buy from the locals living in the area. Hike and climb mountains, walk inside the forest and take adventure in the wilderness, capture the scenic view from the top of the hills, tent by the sea, play volleyball and other games in the white sandy shore, wildlife roam in grasslands and you can go hunting.
There's No signal,sophisticated technology,electricity and transport utilities except for motorized banca's a complete get away from the real world.
